Nasa sun & space

NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is the United States' space agency responsible for civilian space exploration and research. While it is involved in various space missions and studies, it has also conducted extensive research on the Sun and space.

  1. Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO): NASA's SDO is a satellite launched in 2010 dedicated to studying the Sun. It captures high-definition images of the Sun's surface and collects data on solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and other solar activities.

  2. Parker Solar Probe: Launched in 2018, the Parker Solar Probe is a NASA spacecraft designed to study the Sun up close. It aims to gather data about the Sun's outer atmosphere, known as the corona, and understand phenomena like solar wind, solar flares, and coronal mass ejections.

  3. Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO): NASA, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), launched SOHO in 1995. It is a satellite dedicated to studying the Sun's interior, outer atmosphere, solar wind, and space weather phenomena.

  4. Hubble Space Telescope: Although primarily known for its incredible images of distant galaxies and nebulae, the Hubble Space Telescope has also contributed to solar research. It has observed the Sun to study its atmosphere, solar flares, and other solar activities.

  5. Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) Mission: MMS is a NASA mission launched in 2015 to study the Earth's magnetosphere and its interactions with the solar wind. By investigating the magnetic fields and plasma physics, it provides insights into how the Sun's energy affects our planet.

  6. Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO): The STEREO mission, launched in 2006, consists of two satellites that orbit the Sun. Its primary goal is to observe solar phenomena like coronal mass ejections in three dimensions and enhance our understanding of space weather.

  7. NASA's involvement in solar and space research extends beyond these missions. It collaborates with other space agencies, conducts studies on space weather, explores exoplanets, studies cosmic rays, and investigates various aspects of the universe.
